Rosalia Vila Tobella[2] (born 25 September 1992),[3] known mononymously as Rosalia (Spanish: [rosa'li.a], Catalan: [ruz@'li.@]),[4][5][6] is a Spanish singer. She was born and was raised in Barcelona. Her diverse style of music has earned her the status of "atypical pop star". Her passion for music was ignited by Spanish folk music when she was just 13 years old. She studied musicology at Catalonia College of Music and was also a wedding singer. It reimagined flamenco, mixing it with pop and hip-hop music. The two singles "Malamente", and "Pienso in tu Mira" were a hit among the Spanish populace and won the acclaim of all critics. [11] Recipient of the Latin Grammy Award for Album of the Year and featured in the Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, El Mal Querer started the ascendance of Rosalia into the international scene of music. She introduced reggaeton to a new style on her third studio album Motomami (2022) and departed from the modern flamenco sound of its predecessor. In her entire career, Rosalia has accumulated ten top singles in her native country, which is the highest number for a local artist. The singer has also received two Grammy Awards, eleven Latin Grammy Awards (including two Album of the Year nominations), four MTV Video Music Awards, an MTV Europe Music Award, three UK Music Video Awards and two Premio Ruido awards, among other things. In 2019, Billboard awarded her the Rising Star Award for "changing the style of popular music with her fresh flamenco-influenced pop",[18and she was the first Spanish-singing act in the history of music to be nominated for Best New Artist at the Grammys Rosalia was born on 25 September 1992 in Sant Cugat del Valles and raised in Sant Esteve Sesrovires,[20][21][22] Baix Llobregat, Catalonia. She was born into a family with no artistic heritage and is the youngest child of Pilar Tobella who runs a small family-owned business that specializes in metalworking. Jose Manuel Vila was her father. He was born in Cudillero (Asturias). They separated in the year 2019. (23). She has an older sibling, Pilar "Pili" Vila (born 1989), who works with Rosalia as her stylist and creative director. Rosalia was interested in the performing arts at an early age, particularly after discovering the discography of Camaron de la Isla. At the Taller de Musics, she began her education in music. She completed a six-year program at the academy. She started attending classes at the Raval school and later transferred to the Superior School of Music of Catalonia. The singer also performed independently as a singer at weddings, bars with music and other occasions. She received "a barely over 80 euros or in exchange for a meal".
